Rathausplatz Harburg, 2002 (1. Preis)

Town hall square Harburg, 2002 (1st prize)

The existing sandstone paving has been made into a carpet in order to define the area that is not enclosed. The areas around the old trees have been cleared of their high flower beds, leaving a space of earth around the tree trunk, in order to re-establish the urban character of the Harburg parlors. The fountain basin has been brought level with the square and integrated into it. In winter, the basin is dry and can be walked on, while in summer people can play in the water.
