House SR, Hamburg 2018

The extension and conversion of a “coffee mill” belonging to a former Ham- burg senator is intended to combine living and working for freelancers on the Elbchaussee. War damage suggested that the existing brick façade should be hammered and a matching brick used for the extension. The openings and the division of the windows are restored in the historic part. The extension, on the other hand, features a freely composed interplay of large openings. In addition to the material, the profiling of the existing façade is also cited here as a bracket.
