The primary objective is to complement the present form of the ‘Aktienspinnerei’, a listed former weaving works, and thereby restore the historical urban substance. The facade of the older part of the works will be restored while that of the demolished part will be a new. clearly contemporary reinterpretion that blends perfectly with the overall aesthetic. The same strategy will be pursued inside the building. New pillars will harmonize with, rather than merely copy, the existing ones. The perforated brick barrel vaults in the reading rooms will take up the design of the original Prussian cap vaults.
