Urban Block Configurator, Moscow 2010 

The Urban Block Configurator is a “software toolbox” from which you can compile a variation of housing block solutions. It combines the advantages of standard design with the qualities of site-specific design. This is done by defining standardised elements for the design of housing blocks. When the configurator is applied, it is possible to use identical elements to create different densities, different distribution keys, urban qualities and designs. An optimum between specificity and flexibility is offered. As it does in car manufacturing, this leads to higher quality, but reduces the complex, time-consuming and expensive planning and production process.
