Jabal Omar Development, Makkah, (1st Prize)

The new tunnel is situated west of the Holy Mosque. This unique neighbourhood is answered with a proposal keeping innovation and continuity in balance. In order to achieve reasonable harmony with functional requirements and the urban structure of Makkah as a whole, the chosen guiding principle is based on structure as source for a unique expression. The construction technique is applied for a geo- metrical interpretation of traditional architectural elements.
