Chief Customs Office, Hamburg 

The port city’s new Chief Customs Office comprises the northern head of the development between Magdeburger Straße and Shanghai-Allee. The Office is a sculptural response both to its own public significance and to the site itself, which is open on three sides. Its façade of sculpted prefab concrete elements in a red-brown finish is an apt interpretation of the traditional materials and visual qualities of the surrounding warehouse buildings.
