Munich Airport: The Main Building, 2007

The central area of Terminal 1 is to be transformed for the A380 into a 2-level handling/ check-in facility and connected by a mall with the proposed high-speed train facility (Transrapid) and the present city network train station (S-Bahn). The load generated by office storeys must be diverted beyond the existing lower storeys. The load-bearing structure designed to attain this is the defining feature of the new main building.
