Bürogebäude und Kongresshotel Brooktorkai, Hamburg 2002

Office buildings and congress hotel Brooktorkai,
Hamburg 2002

The office building is perceived as the endpoint of Magdeburger Hafen. From the central gap between the buildings that provides access to the area, two office units per storey overlooking the harbor can be accessed. The dynamically backlit, opaque sections of the glass shell transform the unostentatious building into a colorful lantern reflected in the water by night. The four-star hotel begins above a terraced park mound facing the water. The rooms are all grouped around two spacious, naturally lit halls above the entrance storey that accommodates all of the catering and congress functions.
